If a DD for the same amount on the same day on the same paying bank
is issued, alphabets like A, B, C and so on can be prefixed from the
second DD onwards before the Cypher Code.
b.)
If such a situation arises where on a same day many DDs are issued on
the same paying bank for similar amounts, the issuing bank may
enter into a bilateral arrangement with the paying bank as per the
guidelines issued in the Manual.

If the value of the DD is above
Rs. 10000/- Cypher Code has to be
written clearly on the face of the DD in the space between the Issuing
Bank code column and the date column for which provision is made on the
DD

If the value of the DD is above
Rs. 50000/- the Cypher Code
alongwith the other particulars like the date, amount, etc., have to be
communicated to the Paying Bank through Fax/Telex duly authenticated by
the Authorised Officer of the Bank. (Specimen Fax message is given in
Appendix No. III)

If the amount is less than
Rs. 50000/- no Fax message need be
sent to the paying bank.

The member banks will have to always ensure that the key Number
Sets are under PERSONAL CUSTODY of Nodal Officer or a single officer
identified for this purpose.

Only authorised persons alone can have access to the same.

Changes in the key numbers, if any, will be communicated by
NAFSCOB to each SCB well-in-advance fixing a specific date from which
the NEW SET of Key/Code Numbers will become operative.
The SCB is in turn will advise their branches and their member
banks under AIMAS in the respective State.
