C.   SUBHASH YADAV AWARD TO THE BEST PERFORMING  PACS IN THE COUNTRY


 

Shri Subhash Yadav, Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sahakari Bank Mydt. and Dy. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh contributed a sum of Rs.1 lakh (Rupees One lakh only) on 30-05-1998  to   NAFSCOB and desired that the amount may be utilised for the development of PACS in the country. However, he has suggested that a suitable and appropriate scheme may be formulated to institute an Award for development of PACS. In pursuance of the decision taken by the Board of Directors in its meeting held on 19-12-1998 a Committee has been constituted to finalise the criteria and recommend Subhash Yadav Award for the Best Performing PACS in the country.

 

The Committee comprises of Managing Directors from five State Cooperative Banks and Executive Director, NAFSCOB. 

1.                  The Committee in its first meeting, held on 13-04-1999 in the office of NAFSCOB, developed a specific criteria and based on such criteria formulated necessary guidelines to State Cooperative Banks (SCBs), District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and Primary Agricultural Societies (PACS) for the purpose of collecting the information from each of the State. A scoring pattern has also been developed for the purpose of awarding marks.

2.                  The Committee suggested 3 awards in the order of merit as 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes instead of only one award.

3.                  Each award carries a Trophy and a reasonable cash amount out of the interest income earned on Rupees One lakh only. The Committee was of the opinion that the spirit and objective behind instituting an award should be important rather than its cash component.

4.                  The Committee after careful examination of all the facts available from SCBs adjudged the following PACS in the order of merit, the best performing PACS in the country for the year 1998-99.
